Justification

The course "THERAPEUTIC APPROACH OF THE SPINAL CORD INJURY" is aimed at all those physiotherapists who want to update and deepen their knowledge about the assessment and treatment of patients with spinal cord injury.
 
Currently, in the world, there are between 250 and 500 thousand new spinal cord injuries in the world each year, which represents an incidence of between 40 and 80 cases per million population with a significant impact on the young population (15-30 years) with affectation both on a physical, psychological and economic level.
 
Although spinal cord injury is damage to the central nervous system, its assessment, classification and treatment differ greatly from the rest of the damage in said system, a fact that highlights the importance of good specific training to be able to treat it effectively and specifically.

Goals

  • Know the injury mechanisms and pathophysiology.
  • Understand the clinic according to the level of injury, the degree of involvement and incomplete syndromes.
  • Be able to make a correct assessment of the patient in order to set realistic short and long-term goals.
  • Being able to teach the patient how to make transfers for their day to day.
  • Work, in a concrete way, all those deficiencies identified during the assessment.

Methodology

The course is divided into episodes and each one of them forms a lesson.

The lessons consist of a set of videos about the theoretical part and different videos with the practical demonstrations of the techniques.

The student will have access to the course from the date indicated and will have 18 months to complete it. To pass the training, you must watch and study all audiovisual content and pass the final exam.

The course lasts 20 hours, which correspond to the visualization of the different chapters, the study of the notes in PDF format and the completion of the exam. Therefore, the student must carry out active work at home in order to pass the training.

1. Take a multiple-choice exam (you will have 45 minutes).

2. Obtain a minimum grade of 50/100.

In case of failing the exam, you can take it again after 48 hours (you can only repeat it once). We will notify you by e-mail when this time has elapsed.
